HE WAS AN OLD MAN SITTING ON A ROCK THAT LOOKED JUST LIKE  THRONE

I SAID PARDON ME SIR DO YOU HAVE A PHONE SO I CAN CALL THE FOLKS BACK HOME

HE SAID SON I’M A HUNDRED AND ONE AND I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THE WAYS OF MEN

I’VE BEEN AROUND THIS WORLD A FEW DOZEN TIMES AND I’VE HEARD MY NAME CALLED IN THE WIND

SOMETIMES WHEN I HEAR THAT WOEFUL SOUND IT’S LIKE A WOLF’S CRY IN THE NIGHT

BUT SO HELP ME SON I’M MOSTLY ALRIGHT AND I’VE GOT SOME MAGIC LEFT IN MY SOUL

AS I LOOKED IN HIS EYES I GASPED IN SURPRISE AS HIS MEMORIES FLUSHED IN MY HEART

HE SAID SON I’M A HUNDRED AND ONE AND I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THE WAYS OF MEN

I’VE BEEN AROUND THIS WORLD A FEW DOZEN TIMES AND I’VE HEARD MY NAME CALLED IN THE WIND

A CHILL IN THE AIR AND THE SUN GOING DOWN REMINDED ME OF MY ROAD

I HAD TO GO BUT I DIDN’T KNOW IN WHICH DIRECTION I WOULD END

OLD MAN I SAID I HAVE TO LEAVE BUT I WILL PUT YOUR MIND AT EASE

I’VE FELT THE WIND BLOW AND I’VE HEARD THE MOURNFUL SONGS BUT THAT’S NOT THE REASON YOU CRY

YOU ARE ALL ALONE SITTING ON THAT ROCK AND WONDERING WHY IT ALL PASSED YOU BY

HE SAID SON I’M A HUNDRED AND ONE AND I’VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE

YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHAT I’VE BEEN THROUGH I CAN TELL BY THE GLEAM IN YOUR EYES

YOU’VE SEEN THE SUN AND THE MOON IN THE SKY BUT THIS WORLD HASN’T TOUCHED YOU YET

SO I PUT MY SHOES INTO THE DIRT AND I STARTED ON DOWN THE ROAD

I TURNED MY HEAD TO THROW HIM A SMILE AND I HEARD HIM SAY IN THE WIND

YOU TREAT THAT BOY WITH RESPECT HE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO

HIS HEAD TILTED BACK AS HE FACED THE STARS AND I THOUGHT I HEARD HIM LAUGH

HE DREW HIS LAST BREATH AS HE FELL OFF HIS ROCK AND I KNEW THAT HE HAD PASSED

IT’S A SAD TALE OF A MAN ALL ALONE AS HE SHARED HIS WISDOM WITH ME

WHEN THE WIND RAILS AND THE MOON IS HIGH I CAN STILL HEAR HIS CRY

SON I’M A HUNDRED AND ONE AND I’VE HEARD MY NAME CALLED IN ┬áTHE WIND
